Interactions with Kansai Gaidai local students revolve around various places, but the first contact can be very smooth if you apply for the Speaking Partner Program.
This program is the most popular interaction program at Kansai Gaidai, and great many local KG students sign up for the program, as they are eager to get to know the international students.
Informal exchange of language lessons is a major part of activities, but there are many other activities taking place on- and off-campus with the speaking partners. Students may find themselves participating in various university events, visiting temples and shrines in Kyoto and Nara, being captivated by pop-culture in downtown Osaka, and much more.
The speaking partner can be a good resource person as well as the facilitator in making adjustments to campus life. The arrangements can be made for students who have been admitted to the Asian Studies Program to contact their speaking partners prior to their arrival at Kansai Gaidai, so that many questions they may have about coming to Japan and studying at Kansai Gaidai can be answered.
