Kansai Gaidai provides international students with various study options depending on their interests and possible study durations. Some arrangements are made through institutional agreements in which case applicants are accepted on the basis of their home institutions' recommendations. The following are the enrollment options available at Kansai Gaidai University.Asian Studies ProgramStudents are able to participate in the Asian Studies Program through Kansai Gaidai’s official agreements with their home institutions or independently. Those who are recommended by Kansai Gaidai’s affiliated institutions are given admission priority. Study duration: One year or one semester Asian Studies Program + Undergraduate Courses for Local StudentsAsian Studies Program participants are invited to take courses offered to local students in the regular undergraduate programs in English or Japanese. Students are expected to have upper level Japanese language proficiency to take courses offered in Japanese. Full Enrollment in Undergraduate Programs for Local StudentsSome institutional arrangements provide students with the opportunity to enroll in our undergraduate courses on a full-time basis. Applications must be accepted through our affiliated institutions, which have agreements with Kansai Gaidai for the described enrollment arrangements. Study duration: One year or one semester Degree-seeking Transfer Program (2+2)Kansai Gaidai’s affiliations include degree-seeking transfer agreements in which selected students come to Kansai Gaidai for two academic years starting from the 3rd year and obtain a degree from Kansai Gaidai. The credits earned here will be transferred to count toward a degree awarded by their home institutions.Visiting Professor ProgramThe Visiting Professor Program is offered to provide scholars at our affiliated institutions with an opportunity to further delve into their specialized research topics and to teach in Japan. Normally, scholars on sabbatical leave take advantage of this program in order to carry out on-site research in Japan. Visiting Professors have not only contributed to broadening the perspectives of our international and local students, but also bring back with them first-hand observations and research results on Japan and Asia to share with their own students, faculty and staff members. Undoubtedly, the program has become a valuable asset to participating professors’ home institu-tions and at the same time it enriches Kansai Gaidai. There are other opportunities for faculty members interested in teaching at Kansai Gaidai for one year or more. Specific arrange-ments can be discussed.Teaching OpportunitiesFaculty members who are interested in teaching at a Japanese university in their native language may apply for a visiting professor position with compensation. Successful applicants may be offered a contract for a minimum of one year.
