Fees* and Expenses Application FeeIn your payments to Kansai Gaidai, the following should be noted:1.Fees must be paid on a semester basis.2.No personal checks or personal money orders can be accepted for any payments to Kansai Gaidai. You can pay the fees by credit card (except for tuition payment), wire transfer or with cash.3.Payment of all academic fees and expenses must be completed before or during the orientation program each semester.4.While tuition is payable in US dollars, other fees must be paid in yen currency.5.Dollar quotations (in parentheses) are calculated at the exchange rate of US$1/¥110. Since the yen fluctuates in value relative to other international currencies, you should check the current trading rate for your estimation of fees and expenses. A non-refundable Application Fee of US$50 must accompany your application for admission.Other FeesGeneral Deposit (Refundable)……............……......…¥10,000This refundable deposit will be reimbursed at the termination of residence at Kansai Gaidai, when all outstanding obligations have been met (loans, return of library books, etc.)International Student Fee (Mandatory) …......……¥10,000Liability Insurance (Mandatory)…..........….....………¥1,000Merit ScholarshipsEach independent (i.e. non-exchange) student participating in the Asian Studies Program will receive a merit scholarship in the form of a US$7,000 tuition refund at the conclusion of his/her first semester residence provided the following two con-ditions are met:1.The student must have maintained no less than a 3.0 overall Grade Point Average* at his/her home college/university during the two semesters, three quarters, or the equivalent, prior to the academic session in which application for admission is made to Kansai Gaidai.2.The student must also maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA during his/her first semester at Kansai Gaidai.Secondly, each independent student regardless of academic performance prior to participation in the Asian Studies Pro-gram, will receive a merit scholarship in the form of a US$7,000 tuition refund at the conclusion of second semester at Kansai Gaidai provided the following two conditions are met:1.The student must have completed his/her first semester at Kansai Gaidai with no less than a 3.0 GPA.2.The student must also maintain a 3.0 GPA during his/her second semester at Kansai Gaidai.*Based on a 4.0 point system and full-time student status. Stu-dents from institutions which use different grading systems must have maintained a minimum grade average of 80%.Note: The other academic programs at Kansai Gaidai have separate fee schedules respectively. Admission Fee and Enrollment Conrmation DepositWithin three weeks of receipt of the admission notice via e-mail, you must confirm your participation by forwarding the Admission Fee of US$50 and Enrollment Confirmation Deposit of US$200 (both of which are non-refundable). The Enrollment Confirmation Deposit will be credited to the payment of first semester fees at Kansai Gaidai.
