ALL STUDENTS who plan to extend their stay at Kansai Gaidai into the Fall semester of 2017 should submit the on-line EXTENSION REQUEST FORM no later than Friday, April 14. Those who have originally planned to stay here for one-year should also submit the extension request form through K-GENESYS.
For students who had originally applied for one semester should ask your home institution to send a supporting letter to Kansai Gaidai (email@example.com) via e-mail.
Further information related to your extension of stay will be available at the Memorandum for Extention students.
|Apr. 14 (Fri)||Deadline for submission of Extension Request Form|
|May 31(Wed)||Notification of "Approval or Disapproval of Extension of stay"
Approval of extension will depend on overall academic performance in the spring semester. At least a 2.0 GPA with no "F" grade will be considered the minimum standards for approval of extension into the next semester.
FOR THOSE WHOSE EXTENSION IS APPROVED:
|Jun. 1 (Thu)||Students who are officially approved and are not on affiliation programs must pay the tuition deposit of US$2,000 by 4:00pm, June 1. This money will be credited to your tuition payment for the Fall semester. Failure to fulfill this financial obligation will result in automatic cancellation of your enrollment in the program.|
|Jun. 1 (Thu)||Deadline date for moving out
Students in the homestay program and the Seminar Houses must leave these accommodations by this date.
|Aug. 25-30 (Fri-Wed)
(There is a possibility that those dates may change.)
Students are not expected to participate in the Fall semester orientation, however, it will be the student's responsibility to complete necessary payments and registration for the Fall semester during the specified dates. You may not ask friends to register you for classes for the Fall semester of 2017.
|Aug. 30 (Wed)||Payment Deadline for Fall 2017 Semester
Payment by Credit Cards through online is also available from August 7 (Mon).
FOR THOSE WHOSE EXTENSION IS NOT APPROVED:
Students whose extension applications are not approved must leave accommodations arranged by Kansai Gaidai no later than June 1.
When completing the application form, the following should be noted:
Orientation Period for the Fall Semester
Seminar House will be available for both extending and new students from August 25 to September 3 for free of charge. Since we have to arrange the Seminar House room assignments for this period in advance, all students should advise us as to whether or not they need to stay in the dormitory for this period by entering the appropriate information on the EXTENSION REQUEST APPLICATION.
All students must request their housing option for the Fall semester by submitting the on-line EXTENSION REQUEST APPLICATION.
|SH I & II & IV||SH III(Rate 2*)||SH III(Rate 3*)||Gakkentoshi Seminar House
Rate 1 will be waived for full-exchange students.
Rate 2 is the Seminar House III fees for tuition-only exchange and independent students.
Rate 3 is the Seminar House III fees for full-exchange students.
Note:The dormitory rate is for 8 tatami-mat room, double occupancy.
Students who will be accommodated in the Seminar House are required to attend the Seminar House meeting during the orientation period.
Those who request Seminar House accommodations should understand that if the number of students wishing to stay in the Seminar House exceeds its capacity during the fall semester, priority will be given according to the following order:
Students on full-exchange programs
Students on tuition-only exchange programs
Students on term/year programs
Please carefully note that new incoming students will be granted priority over continuing students in each of the above categories.
Since homestays are arranged on a semester basis, students who wish to stay with the same host family should request a renewal of the arrangements by submitting the EXTENSION REQUEST APPLICATION. The office will then negotiate with the family as to the specific arrangements. Personal negotiations should not take place. We have found it much easier to have someone act as a go-between, particularly in the case like this. If your extension is approved, move-in dates for the fall semester will be during Saturday, September 2 or Sunday, September 3.
Those who wish to live with a host family for the first time during the fall 2017 semester are requested to complete a Housing Questionnaire. The information will be provided by e-mail in June.
For those who wish to stay with a new family and wish to change any item on your previous housing questionnaire, please contact the CIE office. Please note that new incoming students and those extension students who have never experienced homestay will be granted priority.
Students who wish to live off-campus should budget very carefully, for in Japan a relatively large amount of key money is sometimes necessary to rent an apartment, and apartments are, in most cases, completely unfurnished. In spite of this, our former students have been somewhat successful in securing housing outside the campus, which does not require a high deposit.
