Experience Japan Program Kicks Off

The first event of the Experience Japan Program was held on September 16 titled “Let’s make takoyaki (octopus dumplings). The Japanese word “takoyaki” is used world-wide as it gains popularity among the foreign population.
The Experience Japan Program is a student organized program in which local students organize various events to introduce Japanese culture to international students.
A number of local and international students enjoyed making and eating “takoyaki,” together with Japanese snacks known as “dagashi” sold at mom-and-pop stores which often reminds us of the old days. Also playing with kami-fusen (paper balloons) further added to the nostalgic atmosphere, with students sharing stories of their own childhoods.
