On September 22 the second event of the Experience Japan Program was held. The location of this event is in one of the most popular sightseeing sites in Kyoto, “Arashiyama”. Titled “Cycling in Arashiyama”, students explored the area by bicycle, which is the most convenient means of transportation during the crowded season.
As featured in many websites and publications, “Arashiyama” draws many tourists from inside and outside Japan. The “Togetsu kyo” bridge built across the Katsura River, considered to be one of Kyoto’s most artistic structures, fully highlighted the beautiful river and hills.
In addition to enjoying the guided bike tour, international students were more than pleased with home-made lunches, consisting of delicious rice balls.
“It took a lot of time and effort to organize this event, including making transportation arrangements and carefully preparing lunches, but all the work was well worth the smiles we saw on the faces of the international students,” commented one of the local students who organized the event.
