Fees due to Kansai Gaidai vary depending upon the enrollment status of the student at Kansai Gaidai University. The following are the five basic enrollment categories:

Full Exchange Student (EF) Tuition and housing fees to Kansai Gaidai are waived through bilateral exchange agreement. Meal Allowance is provided after the orientation.
Tuition and Housing Exchange Student (EFH) Tuition and housing fees to Kansai Gaidai are waived through bilateral exchange agreement.
Tuition-only Exchange Student (ET) Tuition to Kansai Gaidai is waived through bilateral exchange agreement.
Term/Year Abroad Program Student (IT) Tuition is paid by the student’s home institution
Independent Student (IN) All fees are to be paid by the student.

The specific information regarding your financial obligations to Kansai Gaidai will be available on Kansai Gaidai Online Payment System(OPS) . All payments, except for tuition, must be paid in Japanese yen.

All necessary fees have to be paid before or during the orientation week. It is recommended, however, that you complete the required payments before your arrival at Kansai Gaidai so that your course registration and other necessary procedures can be completed without delay or complications. Students are strongly advised to bring adequate funds for their studies at Kansai Gaidai.

Those who enter Japan on a visa with the status of "Student" may NOT engage in any employment unless they are granted a work permit from the Japanese Immigration Bureau. Under Kansai Gaidai regulations, even if you get a permission from the Immigration Bureau, we do not encourage students to engage in any type of part-time employment until your second semester. Also, Kansai Gaidai homestay regulations stipulate that homestay program participants may NOT engage in any part-time employment.

Therefore, we urge students not to plan on supplementing their personal budgets with earnings from part-time jobs.
