1) WHAT FACILITIES ARE AVAILABLE?
Two students will share one room; each student has his/her own desk, closet, drawer space, futon (mattress) and bedding including pillow and sheets.
Rooms are floored with "Tatami" mats on which you will be sleeping and equipped with air conditioning. A telephone is provided, on which you can receive domestic and international phone calls. If you wish to make a phone call, you need to use the public phones located on the first floor in each seminar house.
Each dormitory has kitchen(s) with some cooking utensils, dining room(s), a student lounge/living rooms and a computer room. There are also shower rooms, storage rooms, laundry facilities and bicycle parking areas.
2) CAN I USE THE INTERNET FROM MY ROOM?
Yes, you can connect your own computer to the internet from your room free of charge. Please note that you need to register your laptop computer first at the computer room locating in the Center for International Education building.
You can also use your own computer in the computer room in Seminar House.
3) SHOULD I BRING TOWELS AND BED LINENS?
Bed linens are provided by Kansai Gaidai. We have a linen cleaning service every 10 days. We do not provide any towels, so you should bring those.
4) CAN I REQUEST A ROOMMATE?
Yes, you can request a roommate in "Questions for Residence Hall Students". Please note that your requested roommate must request you as a preferred roommate at the same time.
5) IF I WANT TO CHANGE ROOMMATE, CAN I DO THAT?
Yes, if you wish to change a roommate, you need to obtain and fill out the "roommate change request form" and submit it to Center for International Education.
6) ARE THERE ANY ACCOMMODATIONS AVAILABLE DURING THE WINTER BREAK?
Yes, our dormitory is available during the winter break for those whose extension of stay to spring semester has been approved. Homestay arrangements will not be made during this period.
7) CAN I STAY IN THE DORM DURING THE SUMMER?
No. All Kanai Gaidai's dormitories are closed during the summer. Therefore, students extending their stay from the spring semester to the fall semester should understand that they must secure their own housing during the summer.
8) CAN I STAY IN THE DORM BEFORE/AFTER THE SEMESTER?
No. Seminar Houses will only be available from the first day of our set arrival dates until the deadline date for moving out of accommodations. Please see the academic calendar (http://www.kansaigaidai.ac.jp/asp/03_academics/01.html) for specific dates.
9) CAN FRIENDS OR FAMILY STAY OVERNIGHT AT SEMINAR HOUSE WHEN THEY VISIT ME?
No. Since the Seminar Houses are facilities only for international students and we have only a limited number of rooms, guests cannot stay overnight at the Seminar Houses.
Guests (including residents of other Seminar Houses) can only visit residents from 9:00am to 10:00pm in the lounge, residents' rooms, and units (Seminar House III). For more detailed regulations, please read the Seminar House Rules and Regulations.
10) IF I HAVE PROBLEMS, WHOM SHOULD I CONTACT?
You can contact Housing staff members at the Center for International Education. Or if you just have simple questions about facilities or services at the Seminar Houses, you can contact housing staff members or Resident Assistants, who are living in the Seminar House with you.
For emergencies at night, you can contact housing staff members or Resident Assistants at each Seminar House.
