As the end of the semester approaches, I often wonder "What have my students learned this semester?" I hope the freshmen I teach can communicate in English more fluently and confidently than when they entered Kansai Gaidai three months ago. Also, I hope the students in my seminars have learned something about topics such as global warming, destruction of forests, overfishing, factory farming, cruelty to animals, ethical shopping, bias in the media, etc., which they probably knew very little about before. I hope they will continue to think deeply about these topics, and will not forget about them as time goes by.
