Here is an interesting piece of information. According to the United Nations, children and teenagers in Finland spend less time in the classroom than young people in any other developed country. However, Finland has the highest academic standards of any country in the world. This shows that education and learning do not depend on spending a lot of time in lessons. What does learning depend on? Why do we learn some things quickly and easily, but we don't learn other things quickly and easily, even though we want to learn them and try to learn them? Why do we learn some things and then forget them almost immediately, but we learn other things and remember them for a long time, or for ever? These are good questions to ask ourselves.
