College of Global Communication and Language School of Japan and Asian Studies
In addition to steadily improving their English proficiency, students choose one language spoken in Asia, which accounts for 60% of the world’s population, from among Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, or Chinese. They develop practical language skills, communication abilities, and an international mindset. Via specialized knowledge and Asian cultural understanding programs, alongside international students from various Asian countries, students cultivate an attitude of mutual respect and collaboration. The program nurtures global leaders well-versed in Asian cultures, society, and business.

Studying both English and one Asian language
Through small, proficiency-based classes, students steadily develop their four core English skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—in their first and second years, enhancing their overall English proficiency. In addition to the university’s unique English education program, Japanese instructors with a solid understanding of common grammar difficulties provide English grammar instruction, while native-speaking instructors teach speaking and listening, building business-level English skills. At the same time, they choose to study one Asian language of interest—Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, or Chinese. By also acquiring knowledge related to culture and society, students cultivate practical language skills, communication abilities, and an international mindset.
Establishment of an education system based on multicultural coexistence
A multicultural, collaborative learning environment is provided where students study alongside those studying abroad from various Asian countries, each with their own cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Many specialized classes adopt practical formats such as fieldwork and project-based learning, encouraging students to work together with international students to understand the social issues facing Asia and Japan, and to explore new forms of value creation.

Students can also take advantage of the wide variety of study abroad and internship abroad programs we offer at partner universities across 55 countries and regions worldwide.
From their second year, students can choose to do intensive language study in an Asian country (Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, China).

Learning about Asia and the world through six areas of study
Six areas of classes have been established to provide in-depth knowledge and cultural understanding of topics such as Asia’s diverse languages, cultures, societies, history, international relations, as well as economics and business. Students obtain a comprehensive understanding of global society and study sustainability, developing the ability to explore pathways toward the sustainable development of the world. Additionally, they improve their understanding of their own country’s culture and society from the world’s perspective. A group of classes for students who aim to become nationally qualified registered Japanese language teachers is also offered.
