College of International Professional Development School of Global Engagement

Engage with the world through our innovative program to make positive contributions to global society.

All subjects are taught in English, with an emphasis on “Experiential Learning” to foster practical learning and develop the skills necessary to succeed globally. By applying acquired knowledge and communication abilities to collaborate with people from diverse countries and regions, students deepen and broaden their learning experience. In addition to ensuring that students have a thorough understanding of the lecture content, the curriculum emphasizes active engagement, practical skill development for real-world applications, and training students to identify social issues and explore potential ways to address them on a more profound level.

Intensive learning of knowledge and skills that are essential for English proficiency and global engagement

English for Global Citizens (EGC) is an academic English acquisition program that employs a content-based approach. It cultivates advanced English proficiency, communication skills, and a mindset essential for collaborating with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and values. Additionally, students learn fundamental digital skills and effective utilization of information technology necessary for a global society that is rapidly becoming more digital, enhancing their practical capabilities as global citizens.

[Topics Covered] Global issues

human rights, refugees, peacekeeping, poverty and hunger, World Heritage, and big data

Focusing on global issues, including the SDGs, students develop critical thinking and practical skills through discussions and project-based learning. This cultivates a global perspective essential for success in the international community.

Obtaining a comprehensive education in three academic disciplines to tackle global social issues

Building on the academic English cultivated in the first-year EGC program, students will take a broad range of courses in three fields—Humanities, Social Sciences, and Business and Economics—all in English from their second year onward, obtaining a comprehensive education to tackle global social issues from a variety of perspectives. By studying alongside international students and engaging in projects, they will be exposed to a wide range of viewpoints, fostering the mindset and attitude of a global citizen.

Sustainable Development A

In this course, students will engage with the world of sustainable development and Sustainable Development Goals (both in general and in the Asian context). How have Asian countries addressed each SDGs? What can we do at the individual level to help achieve these SDGs? Amongst others, such are the main research/discussion questions for this policy-oriented course.
