Kansai Gaidai College Division of English and American Studies
Students develop strong English proficiency and intercultural understanding while also cultivating the interpersonal skills needed to thrive internationally. In addition to small, all-English classes, specialized subjects, and a wide range of liberal arts subjects, students also gain both theoretical and practical skills through PBL (Project-Based Learning). Whether transferring to a four-year university or entering the workforce after two years, the well-rounded curriculum helps maximize each student’s potential.

Acquiring practical English skills and communication abilities
Starting in their first year, students attend six English classes per week to build high-level, practical communication skills. They learn about subjects like social sciences and current events in English through a content-based approach, which also enhances their critical thinking and communication skills. With small, proficiency-based classes, students focus on improving their English to achieve a TOEIC score of over 500, preparing them to study abroad or for business settings.
IES Program
Special classes that are taught by native instructors certified to teach English to non-native speakers and employ a content-based approach focus to enhance the four core skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The classes help students develop advanced English proficiency, enabling them to think and express ideas in English.

With the active support provided, about half of the students are able to transfer into the third year at a university
Students who develop a strong interest in languages and foreign cultures often choose to further their education by taking advantage of the third-year transfer system to enter a four-year university. With one of the highest transfer rates in Japan, about half of Kansai Gaidai College graduates successfully move on to third-year university programs. Students have four chances to transfer into Kansai Gaidai’s own four-year programs, and students can also aim for third-year admission at national, public, or prestigious private universities.
