Intercultual Student Activites
Nihongo Friends Program

This program plays a supportive role in helping international students from partner institutions around the world smoothly adapt to life in Japan after their arrival, while also sharing the appeal of Japan and Kansai Gaidai with them through cultural exchange.
As a Friends Meeting event is held shortly after the start of the semester, it provides an opportunity for both international and Kansai Gaidai students to connect. Students are encouraged to participate in the Friends Meeting and communicate with as many people as possible, discover shared interests, and enjoy meaningful interactions with international students.

Japan House Program

Japan House (International Seminar House) is a residential facility (with traditional Japanese-style rooms) designed for international students enrolled in the Asian Studies Program or the College of Global Communication and Language. The concept behind it is to provide an environment outside of class where students can improve their Japanese language skills and experience Japanese culture in their daily lives.
The program is not merely an opportunity for language acquisition or a dormitory to live in. It encourages mutual learning of language, lifestyle, and values through shared living with international students.

Activity Details
On Saturdays and Sundays when there are no classes for the Asian Studies Program, students plan and organize events on their own, inviting international students to participate. While events that showcase Japanese culture are preferred, any unique ideas that promote deeper interaction between international and Kansai Gaidai students are also welcome. -

Home Visit Program

This program invites international students to Japanese homes on weekends or holidays, aiming to provide opportunities to interact with families and communities, and to deepen mutual understanding.
Visiting a Japanese household and engaging with families and people in the local community offers international students a chance to experience "living Japanese culture" that cannot be learned in classrooms or from books. We encourage you to introduce Japanese customs, culture, and family life to the international students you meet through this program.

This could include enjoying meals together or participating in local activities such as festivals, sports events, or bazaars—any form of interaction is welcome. While the planning of activities is up to you, this program is intended for households that can host international students as a family unit.
(Example activities) Introducing them to Japanese cuisine, inviting them for dinner, family gatherings, barbecues, attending autumn festivals, showing them around local tourist spots, taking walks through shopping streets, going shopping, watching movies, bowling, playing Hyakunin Isshu (a card game), etc.
RA (Residence Assistant)

At GLOBAL COMMONS -YUI-, students who assist the dormitory staff are known as RAs (Resident Assistants), a role commonly seen at universities in the United States.
Living alongside the residents, RAs support their daily lives by ensuring a safe and comfortable environment, assisting them with any issues they have, and planning events designed to enrich their experience at YUI. They also work with residents to organize and run these events. Because of these responsibilities, RAs are expected to have a high level of English proficiency and strong management skills, making the role a good opportunity for personal growth.
Global Innovation Program (GIP)
