Hello, guys this is Akari and Tuba and we are going to introduce Japanese traditional clothing, Kimono.

These pictures are from when we had a coming-of-the-age ceremony (成人式/seijinshiki) in which we celebrate our turning 20 (Hatachi). This tradition developed in Japanese modern society, although it has roots going back to the Edo period.
Some people rent or buy Kimono for the ceremony, and while others wear Kimono handed down in their family.
In Japan, people wear Kimono when we have special ceremonies-e.g. weddings, funerals, and other traditional occasions.
Kimono (Furisode) has a variety of colors and designs, and since the coming-of-age celebration is only once in our life, we choose a very special and gorgeous Kimono for that day.

What colors of kimono do you want to wear?
