Guidelines for Prevention of Novel Coronavirus Transmission

Kansai Gaidai University (Fall 2021)

TO:       Kansai Gaidai students and their parents and guardians

FROM:  Kansai Gaidai University COVID-19 Contingency Committee

DATE:   August, 2021

As discussed on our website on August 27, 2021, our policy regarding modes of instruction for the Fall semester 2021 courses has been announced.

Based on that policy, we have revised our guidelines as set forth below, under the guidance of our occupational physician. We will continue to make our utmost efforts to prevent transmission of the novel coronavirus.

Your understanding of the policies and goals in these guidelines, as well as your continued cooperation and support to our educational and research activities, will be greatly appreciated.

Please note that the guidelines are based on the instructions and guidelines of the Japanese government and the Osaka prefectural government, and therefore are subject to review and revision at any time, depending upon the development of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as any change in government policy.

When you come to the University campus, please follow the guidelines below:

1. Basic Guidelines

(1)     Please check your body temperature in the morning before coming to campus.

(2)     If you have a body temperature higher than normal (approx. 37.5 or higher) or have any symptoms of possible illness such as a sore throat (including pain, scratchiness, difficulty swallowing, swelling or other throat discomfort), or loss of taste or smell, please refrain from coming to the campus and contact the University Health Center by phone.

(3)     Please wear a mask on campus.

(4)     Your body temperature will be checked by a thermographic camera at the main gate, as well as by a non-contact thermometer at the main gate, the east gate, the west gate, the south gate, and at the ICC on Nakamiya Campus, and at the main gate and the north gate on Gotenyama Campus.

(5)     Antiseptic solutions are located at the entrance of every facility. Please be sure to disinfect your hands before entering any facility.

(6)     Please observe guidelines established by any other University offices where applicable.

2. Classroom Activities and Environment

(1)     Please wear a face mask (and a face shield as necessary).

(2)     Please prepare your own mask. Face shields will be provided by the University.

(Distribution details will be announced separately.)

(3)     Seating arrangements will be made to allow as much space between seats as possible for social distancing.

(4)     Alcohol-based sanitizers are placed at each classroom. Please disinfect your hands thoroughly before entering the classroom.

(5)     Antiseptic wipes will also be placed at each classroom. Please disinfect your desk and chair surface with antiseptic wipes.

(6)     Splash infection prevention panels are also installed on classroom podiums.

(7)     Please ventilate the classroom as much as possible by opening doors and windows. Even in the case of poor weather, please make sure to ventilate for at least 5 minutes in 30 minutes intervals.

(8)     The classroom ventilation fans will be kept on all the times. The currently installed ventilation system automatically ventilates about 50% of classroom air per hour even with all the doors and windows closed.
