7 BRIDGING SCHOLARS ARE STUDYING IN KANSAI GAIDAI UNIVERSITY, THIS FALL 2023

Sep 22, 2023 (Fri.)

The Asian Studies Program (ASP) has maintained a long and positive relationship with the Bridging Foundation for many years. This fall semester, we take pride in hosting 7 students out of the 54 BRIDGING SCHOLARS who are studying in Japan this Fall 2023. The 7 students in our ASP are the highest number of students at any university in Japan for the Fall 2023 cohort

Our ASP has had a long and incredibly positive relationship with the Bridging Foundation for years and years.
For example, we annually host their students in the Kansai regions for a dinner and networking session, this event is coming up again this year in early November. This event allows our ASP students to meet with other Bridging Foundation students in the Kansai region.

As the Bridging Foundation is continuing to diversify their scholarship recipients, our ASP’s mix of USA students, compared to other exchange programs in Japan, is the most diverse. For instance, in the 2023 Spring semester, our ASP is comprised 6% Latino, 7% African American and 10% Asian American students.

The ASP wishes to celebrate this remarkable achievement with our students and reaffirm our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where individuals of all backgrounds are welcomed, as we wholeheartedly support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (D.E.I.).
