A ‘Get to Know Asia’ event was held in November/December 2009 at CIE. It consisted of 5 workshops, to generate and promote the awareness of study-abroad in Asian countries, focusing on ‘Asia’ from various aspects. A total of about 150 students participated in the event. The most attended event was the 3rd session on December 4th, ‘Social Gathering’ with international students from Singapore, Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia and Hong Kong who presented their countries and home universities. In smaller groups at different tables, Japanese students and international students enjoyed interaction learning the different cultures by using both English and Japanese languages. At the 4th session December 8th, the situation of ‘Asia’ in the current business world and its importance were shared with the audience on the basis of experiences of working in Asia; and at the 5th session on December 15th the experiences of study-abroad in the Philippines, Hong Kong, Malaysia and internship in Indonesia were shared. Feedback included comments such as ‘It was good to find that English can be developed even with study-abroad in Asian countries!’
