Mission & Vision

Mission & Vision

Proudly championing the principle of "Practical Learning" across the centuries

The history of Kansai Gaidai traces back to Tanimoto English Academy, founded in the Higashi-Sumiyoshi Ward of Osaka City in 1945, the year World War II ended.

In the aftermath of the war, the founders were resolute in their belief that such a war must never be repeated. They placed their hopes in foreign language education as a path forward.

Our mission and vision proudly uphold the ideals of "nurturing individuals with a well-rounded education who can contribute to the international community" and "focusing on practical learning in order to meet the changing needs of society and viewing the world from a fair-minded perspective." Empowered by these principles, the university has continued to develop with vitality and cultivate a distinguished academic atmosphere.

Unlike national and public universities, private universities are defined by how deeply their vision is embodied and realized.

Our mission and vision are the guiding principles that connect our past, present, and future. It is the ideals and spirit of the founders that must always be honored and kept alive, while keeping pace with the changing times.

Kansai Gaidai's Mission and Six-Pillar Vision

The origins of Kansai Gaidai University trace back to November 1945, the autumn of the year Japan was defeated in the war, when Tanimoto English School was founded in Higashi-Sumiyoshi Ward in Osaka City. The founders placed their hopes for the revival of postwar Japan and its reintegration into the international community in foreign language education.
These hopes eventually crystallized into the university's mission and vision, which emphasizes the cultivation of global citizens and practical learning. These have become the guiding principles that connect our past, present, and future. And now, in the 21st century—
We have also created what we call Kansai Gaidai's Six-Pillar Vision, in striving toward new frontiers.
