Japanese National Insurance: approx. 2,000/month
Textbooks: approx. 20,000/semester

Scholarship Opportunity

The scholarship is offered as part of Kansai Gaidai’s efforts to increase opportunities for international students to learn about Japan and Asia, to provide circumstances for the local community to interact with international students, and to increase awareness of the importance of multi-cultural understanding. The scholarship is designed to support students in their pursuit of becoming globally engaged citizens, motivated to address the opportunities and challenges of a more globally integrated world.

2. Application and Screening for Global Engagement Scholarship

  • Required documents:
    • Scholarship application form
    • Statement of purpose explaining reason for applying to the scholarship and intended contributions to global engagement at Kansai Gaidai University.
    • Summary of previous activities, coursework, experiences related to global engagement and multi-cultural understanding.
  • Scholarship Application Period for Fall 2023 Enrollment
1st Application Period November 1, 2022 – January 31, 2023
2nd Application Period February 1, 2023 – April 10, 2023
  • Scholarship Application Period for Spring 2024 Enrollment
August 1, 2023 – October 31, 2023
  • Interview by selection committee

Students who are eligible for, yet do not receive, the Global Engagement Scholarship will automatically become applicants for the Merit Scholarship.

3. Criteria for Scholarship renewal
In order to continue the scholarship for the second year, the recipients must:

  • Maintain the minimum required GPA indicated as above.
  • Submit a summary of the experiential learning / global engagement activities done during their first year.
