The Visiting Professor Program is offered to provide scholars at our affiliated institutions with an opportunity to further delve into their specialized research topics and to teach in Japan. Normally, scholars on sabbatical leave take advantage of this program in order to carry out on-site research in Japan.
While it is desirable that faculty members' main interest or research area be in Japan or Asia, other areas may be accommodated since teaching opportunities are available in the Asian Studies Program as well as in a special program for Japanese undergraduate students.
Visiting Professors have not only contributed to broadening the perspectives of our international and Japanese students, but also brought back with them first-hand observations and research results on Japan and Asia to share with their own students, faculty and staff members. Undoubtedly, the program has become a valuable asset to participating professors' home institutions at the same time that it enriches Kansai Gaidai.
