YUI residents participate in the KGU school festival

Nov 22, 2019 (Fri.)

On November 1st and 2nd, the KGU school festival was held under a beautiful autumn sky. What was different from previous festivals was that this year students living in the Global Commons YUI residents' hall took part in the festival and set up booths for the first time – "Muscle Café" and "International Gourmet Street".

At the Muscle Café, visitors were welcomed by muscular servers (residents) and enjoyed communicating with international students in English while eating snacks and sipping healthy drinks such as vegetable juice and soy milk. The unique thing about the café was not only the servers, but that once every hour it threw an event called "hands clap dance". Visitors were very refreshed by exercising and moving their bodies.

Another booth, International Gourmet Street, was a section where residents served foods and drinks from their home countries. Among 10 different countries were Australia, Germany, India, Italy, South Korea, Sweden, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the U.S.A. and Japan. Many visitors enthusiastically sampled foods and learn cultures of various countries through the event.

"International students and local students got along with each other very well by engaging in this event together. The event definitely has deepened bonds between students," said Fu Shimaoka, one of the YUI Resident Assistants.
