ICC

The finishing touches are now being put on the brand new ICC building located just outside the Nakamiya campus.

The impressive 4 story building is covered in glass facades and really stands out from its surroundings. It is not only the outside that impress, the building is filled with state of the art lecture and seminar halls, music rooms, auditoriums, and multimedia rooms.

ICC stands for International Communication Center, and the building’s purpose is, among other things, to promote communication and meetings across cultural and national borders and to showcase the international profile of Kansai Gaidai.

Furthermore, Kansai Gaidai’s highly-regarded Teacher Training Program is relocating to the ICC, making the program’s students the first to enjoy the full benefits of the ICC building. Considering the ongoing educational reform in Japan, to improve the quality of its foreign language education, it is a good opportunity to have the prospective teachers study in the middle of ICC’s international environment.

The first floor is home to a welcoming and attractive student lounge, where international and local students can study and chat together, and a delicious Italian restaurant whose stone-oven-baked pizzas are reason enough for anyone to visit the ICC.

The doors of ICC will open to the public officially on the 10th of September and by then a variety of interesting and fun activities will be held to encourage international and local students to explore the ICC and to facilitate international communication.
