JAPANESE LANGUAGE PLACEMENT TEST

Those who have studied Japanese language prior to participating in the Asian Studies Program are required to take this test on the assigned date in order to determine the appropriate level of the Japanese language classes.

YUI RESIDENTS' MEETING

All the students who will be living in Residence Hall, GLOBAL COMMONS 結 -YUI- are required to attend this meeting. Specific regulations and expectations will be explained.

HOMESTAY STUDENTS' MEETING

All the students who will participate in our homestay program are required to attend this meeting. Topics will include, but are not limited to, how to adapt to Japanese customs, what to expect from your host family, basic rules to follow, etc. Some former students will give some tips on a successful homestay experience.

ACADEMIC ADVISING

Faculty members will be available in their offices for academic advising. You may visit the professors of the courses you are interested in taking to make sure that you understand the course requirements and contents.

MEETING WITH YOUR HOST FAMILY

Your host family will come to the university to meet you and take you to their home. A 30-minute meeting will be held among you, your host family and a CIE staff member in order to make sure that you understand the basic household expectations. The CIE staff member will be available to translate for you at the meeting.

GENERAL MEETING AND LIVING IN JAPAN (Safety Issue Orientation)

All students are required to attend this meeting. Topics to be covered are Academic Regulations, Immigration, Cultural Interaction Programs, Tips on Student Life, etc.

OPENING CEREMONY (Fall Semester Only)

The official opening ceremony hosted by the President of the university will be held to celebrate the commencement of the new academic year. Your wearing semi-formal attire will be appreciated.
