Students must register for courses during the designated period.

Course Registration will be conducted by our Registration System “Rapport”. We will provide students with the instruction and necessary ID/Password for Rapport before the Registration period starts.

Be sure to complete all the payments according to your payment request and submit the necessary forms by the set deadline. If, for any reason, you cannot complete all the payments and/or submit forms by the deadline, please contact the CIE Office and take a necessary procedure.

HOW REGISTRATION IS DETERMINED

Course assignments are determined upon the completion of the registration period. If the number of students wishing to take any particular course exceeds the maximum capacity, a computer-based lottery will be used to determine the registration. If a student’s first choice cannot be accommodated as a result of the lottery, the course assignment will be done according the second preference category list submitted by the student.

If there are any courses offered at the Asian Studies Program that you are required to take by your home institution due to your graduation requirements, you should prepare a learning agreement (or an equivalent document). The Registrar’s Office will ask you to submit the documentation at the time of course registration

ADDING COURSES

Adding a course is available during the first week of class. You must receive approval from the course instructor to add a course.

DROPPING COURSES

Dropping a course on/before the deadline will leave no record of enrollment on your transcript. However, if you fail to meet the deadline and/or fail to comply with the official procedures, the grade "F" will appear on your transcript.

EXTENSION OF STAY

All of our program participants are initially admitted for one semester only. If you intend to extend your stay into the Asian Studies Program for the following semester, you should apply for an extension of stay and must satisfy the requirements set by Kansai Gaidai. Necessary information and procedures will be provided to you after your arrival.

PURCHASE OF TEXTBOOKS

Specific instructions on purchase of textbooks will be given during the first class period of each course. Since we do not have the system of selling used textbooks, once books are purchased, you cannot return any of them to the bookstore even if you withdraw from a course.
